Refunds and cancellation
Refunds and cancellation
Plans are monthly and you can cancel at any time. If something has gone wrong, or you were charged for something you did not use, email info@cards.place and we will sort it out. This page says exactly when we refund so you are not guessing.
Cancelling
Cancel from the billing portal inside the application, under Settings, or email us and we will do it for you. Two things follow:
- You keep access until the end of the month you have paid for. Cancelling on the 3rd does not cut you off on the 3rd. The subscription simply does not renew.
- Nothing is deleted. When the paid period ends the account locks, and every card, photograph and saved view stays exactly as it was.
Because you keep the time you paid for, a cancellation on its own does not produce a refund. You are not losing anything you bought.
Getting your collection out
Export is free, and it keeps working after you cancel and while an account is locked. From the application you can download:
- a real Excel workbook, with a sheet for each list and values that add up;
- a plain CSV of everything, with whatever filters you have applied;
- a printable insurance schedule.
Please take an export before you cancel, so you always have your own copy. If an account is left unpaid and dormant, we email at least 30 days' notice before removing its contents; deleting your account from Settings removes everything at once. The full schedule is in the privacy policy.
When we refund
We refund in these cases, without argument:
- You were charged twice for the same month, or charged after cancelling. Refunded in full.
- You paid and could not use the service because of a fault on our side. Refunded in full for the affected period.
- You changed your mind within 14 days of your first payment. Full refund of that first payment, no reason needed. This applies to your first month on the service, not to every renewal.
- A renewal you did not expect, where you had genuinely stopped using the service and had not signed in during the month charged. We can see that from your own account activity, so you do not have to prove it.
When we usually do not
Being straight about this is fairer than a vague policy you discover the edge of later:
- Part-months. If you cancel halfway through a month you keep the rest of that month rather than getting half your money back.
- Months you used. If you were signing in and working on your collection, the service did the thing you paid for.
- Downgrades mid-month. Moving from Vault to Basic takes effect at the next renewal. Stripe may apply a proration credit toward your next invoice; we do not refund the difference in cash.
- A feature you hoped for that is not built. What the service does today is described on the home page and is available to try before you pay.
None of that is absolute. If your situation sounds unreasonable when written down, say so and we will look at it. We would rather give a refund than have someone feel cheated over the price of a couple of coffees.
How to ask
Email info@cards.place from the address on your account, and tell us roughly which charge you mean. That is enough; you do not need an invoice number or a form.
- We aim to answer within two business days.
- Approved refunds are issued through Stripe to the original card.
- Stripe typically takes 5 to 10 business days to put it back on your statement. That part is your bank's timing, not ours.
Chargebacks
If you think a charge is wrong, please email us before asking your bank to reverse it. A chargeback costs us a fee and locks the payment into a formal dispute process, which is slower for you than us simply refunding it. We have never refused a reasonable request.
Your rights either way
Nothing on this page reduces the rights you have as a consumer under Ontario or Canadian consumer protection law. Where those rights give you more than this policy does, they win.
Written in plain language on purpose. It is accurate to how the service works today and is not legal advice; it has not been reviewed by a lawyer. It sits alongside the terms of service and the privacy policy.
